Life continues on much as before, I really have nothing to say here but I'll try to be elaborate and elaborate...
The art institute is mediocre, not quite as good as I'd hoped. The classes are terribly boring, for the most part. Strangely enough, my drawing and perspective class was the most fun/interesting, partially due to the fact that the teacher is a crazy old guy. The rest of my classes were okay, but the animation class was particularly terrible. Imagine getting 7 different PACKETS of handouts per class... yeah... terrible. Boring for the most part, my other classes kind of drifted through, I don't know my grades yet, but we'll see how that goes.
I'm quitting my job within the next day or two, so I'm going to start looking anew on saturday and hopefully I'll find something to pass the time. Work itself is fine, it's just the people and the environment that I can't stand. I'm cool with being laid back, but so much that someone can leave the store to go smoke while on shift, whenever they want, is not cool. I'm also a fan of rules as a guideline situation, so people HAVE to obey them, but we won't get into that.
Living in seattle is probably the best part of this new environment, it's very close to anything I need and it's always fun being able to "go home" whenever I want, but not having it too far away. The social environment is rather strange here, I know more of the people in Soraya's dorm than I do at the art institute, but that's probably because ***I DO NOT SOCIALIZE WITH ANIME GIRLS!*** which make up about 1/2 of the people in all of my classes, the other half being guys of assorted types who usually play World of Warcraft, or Magic the Gathering, and for those of you who don't know both of those are goddamn terrible, I know. I used to play both. A quote comes to mind...
"Those who have tried...."
"They tried and failed?"
"....They tried and died."
Name that movie/book combination.
Regardless, I have found perhaps 2 people at the art institute that I would hang out with, and unfortunately I don't live in the dorms so I miss out on a lot of the social activities. But whatever, who cares. These people are single serving friends anyway. In later semesters I'll likely make more friends there, but for now? Who cares.
I've started reading a new sci-fi series called "Hyperion" which so far is pretty rad, but I'm still in the first book (of 4). I've heard good things and I'm hoping for the best.
Speaking of books, I started one briefly and wrote a couple pages, but I haven't really gotten anywhere real on it in awhile. Ask me about it and perhaps I'll show you what I have. I need a laptop so I can write in class, rather than being bored while everyone else is doodling while the teacher lectures.
